The Busha Browne Story
In 1829 the 2nd Marquess of Sligo, Howe Peter Browne, an Irish Man of noble heritage, was sent to Jamaica as Governor. Under his tenure as Governor he implemented the proposed Emancipation Act of August 1, 1834 to free the slaves. The first free village in Jamaica was named in his honor Sligoville. And so the name Browne became renowned in Jamaica .
The Brownes were a wealthy family in Jamaica and in Ireland and were famous for entertaining and food.
This love of food was passed on to a descendant of the family, Charles Adolphus Thorburn Browne, familiarly Known as Charlie Browne. Charlie spent hours in his family home, the famous Tryall Estate in Hanover, western Jamaica cooking and perfecting family recipes. Using the great variety of exotic Jamaican fruits and vegetables he prepared Jamaican sauces, jams, pickles and condiments.
The Busha Browne company has selected the best authentic Jamaican recipes from this 200 year old archive and prepared and bottled them for you.
