Busha Browne is a Jamaican company with its factory located in St. Catherine and its head office in Kingston.
The name Busha Browne has a lot of history behind it, most importantly the name Browne is from the distinguished 2nd Marquess of Sligo, Howe Peter Browne, an Irish Man sent to Jamaica to be Governor in 1829. During his term as Governor he supervised the first stage of the abolition of slavery.
Once the process started many of the land owners believed they would no longer be able to make any money and so they sold their land to the local managers who were known as “Bushas” and so the name Busha Browne came to be.
The Browne family loved food and entertaining and had an archive of family recipes which a descendant Charles Adolphus Thorburn Browne perfected. It is from these 200 year old authentic Jamaican recipes that the company Busha Browne has taken and prepared the very best jams, pickles, sauces and condiments.
